Ford Chevy Dodge - we had it covered! I thought 3 vans might get turned away from a street rod type show, but they seemed glad we showed up - one guy said it was cool we were "bringing vans back"! Unfortunately for Andrew, they'd separated part of the lot with a rope just high enough for most of his van to get under - his roof vent let go with a bang & sent bits of plastic everywhere! Here he is checking out the damage...

Another Vantastic Day
After breaking my vent on friday I went to the junk yard today and scored on a Venturi Elixir Vent. I always wanted one of these, and it was in great shape. Here is some pictures of my day.

The new vent is in with rubber weather strip and some new screws. Now time to decided on putting on the roof rack???

Here's the vent I pulled It works perfect and cleaned up like new. So happy I only paid $20 for it.

Vans on the run
Went out Friday with Craig and Oscar to Ruby's. Was good times rolling in the show together (EXCEPT FOR THE PART WHEN MY ROOF VENT RIPPED OFF ON A ROPE!).
After Craig and I cruzed down to Alex's bar. It was great to see a parking lot full of vans! Hopefully someone took pictures.

Before Buying My Ford Part 2...
I had seen and test driven this rad Blue 74 Econoline 2 years prior and it was my phones screen saver for those two years. It ran great and needed interior. I don't have pics of it then but it looked the same. I still had my dodge and wasn't seriously looking. I still needed to sell my dodge and buy my house before buying my dream van.
I didn't recognize it when I saw it on my lunch break from West Coast 2 years later. I went back to the shop and took pics of it leaving a polite note asking the seller who wasn't there if he would sell it. I left it with the dude at the counter who didn't speak english so I thought I would never see it again. The guy called me back after about a day and said he wasn't selling it but saw my site and after reading my note and was willing to part for $6000. He held onto that fucker for me for 9 months while I talked Janel into letting me buy it. I had to be sure it was the right one so I kept looking while her and I negotiated. That's when I almost bought this...

It was gorgeous on the outside and a mess on the inside. The engine ran horribly and it needed a lot of work that I wasn't sure I'd be able to do on my budget. I didn't trust the seller and the Blue one I really wanted was still waiting for me in better condition and a trustworthy seller. The seats in my Blue van are the ones I bought to put in this van.
Tom Chronister from Wheels of Confusion ended up buying it and it turned out to only be a minor engine problem. Tom turned this thing into an award winning van and its now one of the nicest in Southern Ca.

I bought the Blue Econo a month later and have had no problems yet
(except for lack of funds).
This is a pic from my lunch break that fateful day. Funny how life works part 3.
Before buying my Ford...
I looked at quite a few vans before finding my Ford at a repair shop across the street from work. Some good, some not. Here is a lengthy breakdown of how it went.
I saw this van and dreamt of owning one just like it. I even asked him to sell it but was laughed at. Little did I know, I'd find almost an exact duplicate a year and a half later. Funny how life works part 1.

Close but 6cl turned me off.I saw that a friend of Chase owns it now and it looks similar to my photoshop version of how I wanted to build it.
This little beauty was straight as an arrow and abandoned right by my house. I left a note asking to sell it and a month later it turned up in a local junk yard. I was crushed and so was the rad van. Not before a buddy pulled the flares and two years later gave them to me during my desperate search for thin non-integral flares. Funny how life works part 2.
Some crazy ex-con who got popped for auto theft was junking this one and I was considering it but it was junkie and all I really wanted was the hood with a scoop which he sold me for $100 bucks to pay his palole officer that night. True story. I picked up the hood with a screw driver in my pocket to stab the fucker if he tried to rip me off. Van was also crushed but I was not. Score 1 ultra rare scooped hood. Now I just need a van.
CLEANING OUT THE PIC CLOSET!
Last night Andrew, Craig, Matt Dean and their crew of fine ladies as well as myself managed to get together at Alex's bar here in Long Beach. There were 3 or 4 other nice ass vans there which I really wasn't expecting. I wish I had my camera with. Great night and I managed to stay sober!
I know what your thinking...
I thought he said it was a great night.
Here are some randoms for yer van files.
Enjoy!
